ABCB Thermal Comfort Workshop

ABCB would like to invite IBPSA members to attend a presentation on thermal comfort metrics used in National Construction Codes Verification Methods. This is an opportunity for IBPSA members to gain an insight into the future development of the NCC and contribute to its development. Previous research showed that while many building simulators support the thermal comfort assessment in the NCC Section J Verification Methods, the current metrics are not suitable for every building occupancy and can potentially be “gamed” to manipulate the outcome. ABCB engaged Inhabit to review the thermal comfort metrics and modelling requirements. Inhabit has been evaluating several different metrics and will be present their preliminary results. IBPSA members will have an opportunity to provide feedback and respond to some discussion questions to help direct the next stages of the research
